Sfida durissima quest’anno per aggiudicarsi la candidatura come miglior film straniero, o non in lingua inglese. Ben 76 film – quindi altrettante nazioni – in gara per l’edizione  degli Oscar 2014, cinque in più rispetto allo scorso anno, e tutti speranzosi di entrare nella cinquina che sarà annunciata il 16 gennaio 2014. Paolo Sorrentino, e il suo gioiellino “La grande bellezza”, dovrà vedersela con 75 agguerritissimi concorrenti e, come se non bastasse, l’edizione del 2014, per la prima volta, prevede che la votazione finale all'interno della categoria "miglior film non in lingua inglese" sarà aperta a tutti i membri dell'Academy senza alcuna restrizione. Se ricordate, in passato chi voleva votare doveva vedere obbligatoriamente tutti e cinque i film candidati in sala, invece adesso le proiezioni saranno autorizzate anche attraverso dvd e link scaricabili. Per Sorrentino sarà molto difficile, ma il regista ci tiene troppo e, si sa, la speranza è l’ultima a morire. Intanto, “La grande bellezza” sarà distribuito nelle sale statunitensi a partire dal prossimo 15 novembre, quindi, vedremo come reagirà il pubblico.
